At Barnardo's our goal is clear - to achieve better outcomes for more children.

With the world changing faster than ever before, we have continued to develop our Strategy, ensuring it is fit for purpose and equal to the demands of the day. Our Strategy lives today with a consistent goal of achieving better outcomes for more children by working to build: Stronger families, safer childhoods and positive futures.

This means helping families - where possible before problems reach crisis point. It means keeping children safe from sexual abuse and exploitation while supporting victims and survivors to recover and rebuild. It also means addressing children's mental health and wellbeing, especially when so many have experienced trauma.

We are looking for our new Managing Director, Retail Trading Company. The objective and purpose of this role is to maximise net income and to establish a sustainable, highly profitable set of commercial activities.

Total sales across our retail estate grew 158 percent year-on-year to £78m as our operations rebounded strongly after the Covid-19 pandemic and our Ecommerce activities continued to grow.

This is a unique, exciting and challenging role that requires a whole range of skills. The role is a complex fusion of income generation and highly attuned and acute commercial challenges. The new Managing Director will need to be highly experienced in retail and trading and be flexible and innovative and able to turn this skill set to maximum effect in a charity retail environment. They will also need to be committed and able to embrace Barnardo's strategic enablers of being: digital and data-led, a learning organisation and being committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.

All of our work is underpinned by our values: Respecting the unique worth of every person, encouraging people to fulfil their potential, working with hope and exercising responsible stewardship.
