About Our Client
An ambitious and expanding privately owned group of industrial manufacturing businesses require a Managing Director to take responsibility for one of their subsidiaries based near Bristol, South West UK.
The company manufactures modular portable accommodation units and modular buildings supplying into a range of customers across the plant hire sector and end customers across healthcare, education, house builders and events. After acquisition, each subsidiary business is kept autonomous, not absorbed or subsumed into a larger entity and the strategy is to grow and develop (not trade or strip) each business with investment capital and add-on acquisitions. The Group is well capitalised, has a strong balance sheet, and is cash rich.
Job Description
- Conduct an objective review of the business to execute a strategic business plan designed to optimise performance.
- Control of all aspects of the business and for the balance sheet including forecasting and budgeting.
- Delivery of sales growth across through a broad customer base with experience of creating and delivering on a robust sales strategy.
- Lead the senior leadership team across finance, sales, production, health and safety and human resources.
- Develop and maintain excellent health and safety standards throughout the business, consistent product quality, manufacturing efficiency and best practice.
- Maintain and develop organisational culture, values and reputation in its markets and with all staff, customers and suppliers.
The Successful Applicant
- A well rounded commercially focused Managing Director with experience of profitable bottom line growth within manufacturing organisations.
- Strong track record of growing business profitably with a deep understanding of delivering cash and cash management in a commercial/operational sphere.
- Commercially astute, understands the competitive landscape and understands and manages risk - commercial, operational, financial.
- Flexibility of thinking with an informal and inclusive leadership style that would suit a rapidly expanding SME environment.
- People focused approached who can demonstrate experience of installing a 'can do-will do culture throughout career.
- Analytical mindset with a strong financial awareness.
- An open and likeable personality with honesty and integrity.
- At ease at all levels and with all stakeholders in the business and wider group operating equally effectively in the boardroom and on the shop floor.
- Ideally based in the South West, UK.
