What you’ll do

As our Marketing Director, Retail, you’ll be responsible for designing and developing a marketing strategy that supports the ambitions of our Retail business. From growth-driving marketing campaigns to customer-centric proposition development, you’ll translate the strategy into operational activities and determine the key marketing priorities, resources and plans required to deliver them.

Your top priorities will include:

  • Being the voice of the customer, recommending and delivering a portfolio of propositions and services that support their varied needs
  • Leading, inspiring and developing our Retail Marketing team to deliver the marketing strategy
  • Partnering with your Retail stakeholders to offer guidance and build engagement around the marketing strategy
  • Driving a joined-up customer experience by sharing insights to shape business planning activities, marketing campaigns and proposition development
  • Contributing to the development of our broader Group Marketing strategy as a member of Marketing ExCo
  • Delivering the Retail marketing strategy against our Group Marketing’s annual financial plan and budget
  • Engaging with Retail experts and second line of defence colleagues to drive effective risk management and to manage any conflicts of interest
The skills you’ll need

To make an impact in this role, your knowledge, experience and leadership qualities will be key. That’s why we’re looking for a commercially-focused marketing strategist, fluent in translating data into actionable insight, with extensive leadership experience in a large matrix organisation, ideally within a financial services or regulated environment.

In terms of your leadership style, you’ll be approachable, encouraging and inclusive of peoples’ ideas and perspectives, demonstrating transparency and fairness in the decisions you make to build trust and advocacy among your teams and stakeholders. You’ll know the importance of clear and authentic communication, and you’ll have an affinity for influencing ideas and opinions in a purposeful way.

You’ll also bring great working habits too, like being organised, thorough and painstaking in your work, creative and collaborative in your approach to problem-solving, and composed and self-aware when working under pressure.

Furthermore, you’ll need:

  • Experience of the banking industry and the regulatory and commercial environment
  • A creative and collaborative approach to problem-solving
  • Digital and customer relationship management (CRM) experience
  • The ability to translate brand positioning into customer experiences
  • Experience of managing full-funnel marketing performance
  • Agency management experience
  • Extensive experience of operational and financial planning and budget management
  • A proven ability to build networks and relationships with senior stakeholders
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legal policies, regulations and risk management
