Due to our continued growth, we are now recruiting for a Materials Test Engineer to be based at our customer's site in Gaydon.

Engineering Research and Development (ER&D)

Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace, and Industrial Heavy Machinery.

The Role

The role will focus on delivering materials test services to Engineering in support of Materials Characterization, Program Delivery, and Investigation into quality issues. The main activity will be to carry out materials tests and verification to prescribed procedures, including sample preparation, test scheduling, and reporting out results. This will involve both the use of the laboratory equipment and interrogation of suppliers' test reports.

Important aspects of the role include delivery of materials testing, test reports, and test plans to agreed deadlines. Maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure continued robust operation. Ensuring the laboratory area complies with 5S principles.

Area of Responsibility

Preparation of test facility and/or test materials to enable effective and timely analysis. Delivery of materials test activities within the laboratory, to defined procedures and processes. To collate, manipulate, and interpret data which will be used to inform engineering decisions, to communicate out results in an easy to understand format. Provide test expertise and interpretation on supplier delivered reports where techniques used are relevant.

Manage laboratory equipment to enable continued effective operation. Maintain the facility to high standards including 5S and safety activity. Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time.

Knowledge / Experience

Driving Licence Knowledge of automotive systems/interactions. Understanding of Materials science. Knowledge of materials testing.
