Based: Tring We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team and help develop the next generation of Satellite Communications antennas.

We are looking for an engineer who is able to provide mechanical design support for existing and new product developments.

Ultra Communications are a leading global specialist in the design, development, supply and support of advanced mobile and flyaway satellite and microwave equipment for secure government, military and commercial broadcast communications through our GigaSat solutions.

Highly experienced in creating bespoke, integrated systems, we are able to count several of the world s militaries, the BBC and Formula 1 amongst our worldwide consumers.

Whatever size of the antenna
- 0.23m (parabolic equivalent) to 3.7m and wherever in the world it may be required, our specialised team of engineers and technicians offer installation, integration and adaptation to local conditions, combined with a through-life, in-service support provision that safeguards operational capability even in remote environments.

Key Responsibilities: Carry out engineering change requests on the GigaSat Satellite Communications Antenna range Lead and improve the ECR responses and process Provision of technical support to production and sales.

Design of satellite communications antennas sub systems and associated electronics housings.

Design of machined, sheet metal and carbon fibre composite parts.

Production of detail drawings and bills of materials of designs to Company standards.

Mechanical environmental testing (sometimes off-site) of finished antennas.

Manage security of information as defined in the Security manual Essential Skills: Proficient in the use of Solidworks (or similar) 3D CAD package.

At least three years mechanical design experience Experience in the design of machined and sheet metal parts.

Ability to write test reports.

Good understanding of design for manufacture.

Desirable Skills: Experience in the design of electro-mechanical systems.

Experience in the design of lightweight, rigid structures and mechanisms.

Experience in design to environmental standards.

Experience in the design of composite or moulded parts.

Experience in the design of waveguide parts and assemblies.

Experience in the design of transit cases.

Experience of carrying out environmental testing.

Experience of low to medium volume manufacturing techniques.

Qualifications: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.

Full UK Driving Licence.
