Job Description:

Due to rapid growth and expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen within the Technical Engineering department, for a Mechanical Engineer to join the team. The Mechanical Engineer will report to the Technical Director and will have the following key responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that technical engineering work is completed to all relevant internal and external procedures & processes.
  2. Implement opportunities for improvement and innovation in the mechanical engineering processes and practices.
  3. Oversee the mechanical engineering work of engineers and subcontractors.
  4. Conduct activities in accordance with Company working practices, HSEQS requirements, and legal obligations.

The Mechanical Engineer is expected to improve work processes and provide technical governance for the discipline. The scope will include studies, tenders, and live projects.

Key Tasks:

  1. Conceptual and detailed design of mechanical systems and components for offshore projects including trenching asset and vessel equipment.
  2. Perform calculations, simulations, and testing to verify the functionality, performance, and reliability of the mechanical design.
  3. Create technical specifications, datasheets, drawings, and reports.
  4. Oversee the mechanical engineering work of other engineers and subcontractors.
  5. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the installation, commissioning, and operation of the mechanical systems and components.
  6. Implement opportunities for improvement and innovation in the mechanical engineering processes and practices.

Key Behaviours:

  • A strong mechanical engineering background.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks and Inventor.
  • Experience in 2D CAD software such as AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, such as API, ASME, ISO, and DNV.
  • Understanding of mechanical analysis, such as stress, fatigue, vibration, and thermal.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure of tight timeframes.
  • Demonstrate initiative and flexibility in work approach.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to suggest and develop new methods and ways of working.

Essential Qualifications:

Post Graduate Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
