Wood Applied Intelligence (AI) is is currently seeking an expression of interest for Mechanical Engineers with extensive experience in machine building. They will assist the site manager in duties to run the facilities when required and be part of a multi disciplined team, providing customers in the the Nuclear, Energy, Pharma and Manufacturing sectors with high qulity machinery and automated solutions.
This role will be based at the teams Northampton office.

Mechanical Engineering responsibilities will include:

  • Machine build, assembly and development to required standards
  • Keep detailed development and test records for machine build as required
  • Strong practical and theoretical skills
  • Plumbing of pneumatic valves, pipework and required labelling
  • Understand and read mechanical drawings and parts lists
  • Utilise machine tools and workshop facilities to aid development
  • Keep a tidy work place for quality and H & S requirements
  • Communicate mechanical project status and issues to Systems Site Manager and Project Engineers
  • Assist the Systems Site Manager in maintaining the Northampton site when required
  • Site work and commissioning when required
  • Develop and coach junior members of staff
  • To maintain and improve upon personal skills related to the position, through experience and training
  • To comply with the company policy as defined in the Staff Handbook, Safety Manual, and Quality Assurance Manual and Wood Group ethics policy
  • Other duties as required

Skills / Qualifications
  • Time served apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering and BTEC / City and Guilds
  • Use of machine tools - milling and turning
  • The ability to work across a wide range of different industries
  • Have an extensive array of technical skills
  • Problem solve and build new projects
  • Work to high levels of accuracy and precision
  • Machine development with tooling and prototypes
