Role: Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Located: Terminals

Job Purpose

The overall purpose of this role is to provide both reactive and proactive maintenance services on all operational assets and site facilities. Fault finding, repairs, site upgrades and improvements will also be part of the role. The role will be primarily focus on mechanical engineering works but will include elements of support with electrical works, operations and administrative work.

Work will be generated and managed using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The Mechanical Fitter will have an element of responsibility for management of this system where records and tasks are to be updated and signed off accordingly.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Mechanical work - Maintenance, repairs, inspections & installations.
  • Carry out Isolations for all electrical assets on the Terminal as and when required for Operational/Maintenance work.
  • Reviewing site process drawings and ensuring drawings are up to date.
  • Fault finding on all mechanical assets & equipment on the Terminal. Support Electrical fault finding when possible.
  • To ensure that documented records of engineering and maintenance activities are maintained.
  • Management of mechanical works within CMMS, manage in-house tasks as well as some larger contracted.
  • Assist in managing and developing mechanical based projects & site upgrades when required. Support the Engineering Manager with any mechanical based projects.
  • Support the Engineering manager with any mechanical aspects of Management of Change.
  • As required, assist with any Mechanical HSE intervention plan.
  • To communicate effectively with all personnel to ensure that all engineering activities allow safe, efficient and effective operation of all aspects of the terminals' activities.
  • Manage mechanical contractors on site and ensure work is carried out to applicable standards and in line with Prax Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

  • Fully qualified as an Mechanical Technician / Fitter holding suitable Mechanical qualifications or a time served apprenticeship.
  • At least 2 years' industrial experience, preferably Oil & Gas (downstream) / Process experience.
  • Educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • CompEX qualified (Ex11).
  • Professional membership of an accredited Management Institute or recognised body.
  • Understanding of Process Safety.

  • Effective verbal and written communication and influencing skills.
  • Full working knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes including Excel
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent report witting skills and document management experience
