Job Purpose and Background
As Media Relations and Spokesperson Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for delivering global media activation plans for CDP as we engage the world’s largest businesses, financial institutions, and cities to disclose environmental data and take climate-positive decisions.
You will help develop and implement successful global media strategies to ensure that our brand, data, and voice are consistently visible in the world’s most widely read publications and seen as a ‘go-to’ commentator by leading business, financial, and environmental journalists.
Reporting to CDP’s Associate Director Media Relations & Spokesperson Engagement, you will work in a three-person global Media Relations and Spokesperson Engagement team within our Communications and Marketing (M&C) function. You will collaborate closely with Market Activation teams in EMEA, APAC, and the Americas, our Storytelling & Data Insights team, Events teams within M&C, our CEO Office team, and other key senior spokespeople, in addition to our Commercial and Impact teams.
The successful candidate will be an experienced Media Relations professional with demonstrable success in delivering high-impact media coverage, building a top-tier network of relevant journalists, managing PR agencies, and coordinating with leadership personnel for interviews and speaking appearances. You will have a keen eye for a news story, excellent disciplinary skills and knowledge, and the ability to work under tight timelines to deliver punchy and insightful commentary and stories to your journalist network. You will be comfortable working across global teams with different cultures, leading on individual projects, and have strong experience pitching news stories and ideas to journalists. You have excellent writing skills, are responsible, personable, and persuasive, with a results-oriented mindset and high standards for success. Experience working with top-tier media and executive spokespeople will be essential for success in this role.
