Job summary As part of Suffolk Primary Care, which is a group of 8 GP practices across Suffolk, we are seeking torecruit an enthusiastic andflexible Medical Secretary for 25 hours per week, with strong customer service skills, for Derby Roadin Ipswich who look after over 18,700 patients.Derby Road have 2 sites, based in the heart of Ipswich, with closetravel links to the beautiful Suffolk countryside and the Suffolk coast. We have anestablished team with a strong focus on customer service and communication. Wewould love to hear from candidates with GP surgery experience although we wouldalso like to hear from those that can show flexibility and a range oftransferable skills. The successfulcandidate should be able to work calmly and professionally as part of a team.You should have the ability to multi-task. A strong command of written andspoken English with an excellent telephone manner is a must. Good timemanagement skills and the ability to follow protocols and or instruction and attentionto detail is essential. This is a part time role for 25 hours per week, working Monday - Friday, 9am - 2pm.The selection process for this role will include a minimumof 2 people at the interview. Main duties of the job To provide secretarial andadministrative support to the Doctors, Practice Manager and Business Manager toensure the administrative burden for clinicians and team members is minimised.This will require a full range of IT & secretarial skills. Excellent communicationskills are required. Whilst needing to be a team player is very important, anability to work on ones own initiative is fundamental to the post. Thesuccessful applicant will be self-motivating and willing to accept new tasksand challenges. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential qualities. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, etc. in an accurate and quality manner. Actioning referrals on SystmOne via tasks, ensuring forms have been completed correctly and sending them either by email or via e-Referrals. To establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure. To retrieve medical records and assist the completion of medical/insurance records. To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries. To maintain the computer clinic system in an accurate and secure manner. To provide cover for members of the secretarial team during periods of sickness and annual leave. In liaison with the clerk responsible, maintain adequate supplies of office stationery in order to perform your secretarial duties. To receive and dispatch mail and maintain a pending system. Person Specification Qualifications Essential GCSE Grades A to C in English and Maths Desirable Experience of working in a GP Practice Experience using SystmOne
