Job Description

*This role offers a financial incentive for joining us, up to 10% of your annual basic salary (pro rata), paid in 6 instalments over a 6-month period from your start date.*
*We can also offer favourable relocation packages up to £8,000 to suitable candidates wishing to relocate to Oxfordshire for this role.*
Are you a qualified or soon to qualify *Mental Health Nurse* who is interested in working in a new and dynamic team where support and training for staff is prioritised? Are you motivated to deliver high quality patient centred care and improving inpatient care and experiences for young people?
If you are, an exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the trust at a brand-new purpose built 8 bedded *Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)* for children and adolescents at the *Warneford Hospital in Oxford.* This Unit will provide short term intensive treatment for acutely unwell adolescents while keeping the young people as close to home as possible.
This is a specialist service which will equip you with developing a range of skills, including:
* Acute management of mental health
* Functional assessments
* Models of therapy such as Dialectical Behaviour therapy and trauma work
*Duties and profile*
* Assisting the wider team in implementing and evaluating *individual care plans* by working alongside the patient to support their recovery journey
* Actively supporting individual patients in engaging with their local community, education and activities to aid their inpatient care.
* We are seeking individuals who are *compassionate and enthusiastic* and who are able to *work collaboratively* with the patient and family during an acute phase of a young person’s illness.

* Physical health nursing skills
* Psychosocial interventions at Master’s level.
The leadership team will work with you to support you in your *career development *in mental health nursing. Providing you with opportunities and support to gain the necessary experience and skills to allow you to move into a *band 6 position* having worked *for 12 months *in the team. If you have a special clinical/therapeutic interest, please do share with us, as we strive to individualise your development pathway.

We are committed to offer you regular teaching, training and research opportunities, with many occasions for development and further education in mental health nursing, including *Master's level programmes*. We can also support with *Preceptorship* for any newly qualified nurses.
