Section 19 of the Education Act 1996 places a duty on Local Authorities to make suitable alternative education for children of compulsory school age who cannot attend school because of illness, exclusion or for any other reason and therefore the team’s key aims are to support Children and Young People and the families whereby a child/ young person cannot attend school because of health needs, including mental health. The team will play a crucial role in supporting families within Nottingham City by providing intensive support and coaching aimed at improving attendance and reducing persistent and severe absence rates. We are looking for 4 x Family Support Workers who have the ability to work systemically with a wide range of families, with the ability to offer creative solutions to barriers alongside clients, with a strong work ethic and can do approach. The ideal candidate will have: Extensive experience of working with CYP and their families offering holistic (MIAT) partnership assessments focussed around challenges impacting school attendance that are primarily as a result of mental health needs or systemic environmental factors. Partake in the delivery of training to education staff and partner agencies. Work Flexibly in a range of settings that includes schools, education provisions, community hubs across Nottingham City and client’s homes. A commitment to additional training that will inform the applicants abilities to deliver therapeutic interventions in Mental Heath.
