Mixed Veterinary Surgeon

Salary up to £65,000 depending on experience plus benefits

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated mixed animal veterinary surgeon to join our fantastic team here at Castle Veterinary Group. As a Mixed Animal Vet you will be responsible for the care of farm animals, companion animals and equines ranging from routine treatments and health management regarding disease control and prevention, TB testing, emergency care for all species under our care, all types of first opinion care including surgical and medical management. New or recent graduates will be well supported with all duties.

This role is for 40 hours per week with out of hour and weekend cover needed. Working hours are from 9am to 5.30pm on weekdays.Out-of-hours cover is from 5.30pm till 9am.

On weekends off, work finishes at 2.30pm on Fridays.We are also happy to consider part-time applicants.

About Castle Veterinary Group

We are privileged to work and live in not 1 but 2 areas of outstanding natural beauty. The practice stretches across a fantastic scenic area from Strangford lough up to Slieve Donard. We have on our doorstep a wide range of sport clubs, a racecourse, golf courses, mountain bike trails, landmarks where Game of thrones was shot, something for everyone all within the catchment area.

For nightlife we have multiple bustling tourist seaside towns and villages. For a city experience we are located 45 minutes from Belfast and 1&1/2 hours from Dublin.

Alongside the modern standard equipment, we have invested heavily in equipment to be able to do more advanced surgeries and diagnostics. Our facilities include 2 large animal lab areas, 2 mobile scanning units for routine fertility work and stock facilities for equine reproduction. We have in-house endoscopy, bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy, arthroscopy and digital radiography in both sites. We have a state-of-the-art ultrasound facility with continuous and pulse wave doppler for cardiology and advanced soft tissue imaging. We have extensive orthopaedic equipment with complicated fracture repairs, TPLO’s and TTA’s all being performed routinely in-house. We have small animal surgeons who undertake a lot of our own orthopaedic work at our thriving small animal surgeries.

We are a team of 15 Vets and 9 Registered Veterinary Nurses who are incredibly supportive with a good blend of youth and experience. We’re a friendly, supportive bunch who enjoy working here, with many of the team having been here a long time.
