Myerscough Veterinary Group are looking for a permanent consult only vet for their Padiham branch.
The Role
The new leadership team at My Vets welcome applications from enthusiastic vet surgeons to apply to join our Padiham surgery. The ideal candidate will be excited by the opportunity to influence the shape and direction of the branch and to collectively build on the team and its facilities. The role will comprise of solely consulting and would suit those who are seeking independence and sole charge. However, there is potential to spend time each week at our fully equipped hospital in Clayton le Dale to allow for a more varied case-load.
Day to day duties involve providing a consultation service to Myerscough Veterinary Group clients, ensuring the health and happiness of animals seen. Vaccinations, routine and non-routine appointments throughout each day. Candidate will be responsible for providing veterinary care to animals, prescribing medications, and day to day management of the branch practice.

A full time role would involve working typically 4 days per week between the hours of 9.15am & 6.00pm but there would also be the option of spending one of those days at our hospital if preferred. Weekend working is Saturdays only, 8am-3.30pm on a maximum of 1 in 4 and up to a 1 in 8 rota and our out of hours provision is by Vets Now, located at the hospital.
About Us
Myerscough Veterinary Group is a practice located in the beautiful Ribble Valley in Lancashire. Our Padiham branch is located in the centre of Padiham and cares for animals in the surrounding area.
With a new management team in place, we are looking at expanding our team to develop the services we provide to our clients.
The branch has a supportive reception team and nurse clinics running alongside veterinary appointments and offers exciting prospects for those looking to join as the role will have development and growth opportunities. We would encourage advanced certificates or specific CPD to support those looking to enhance their clinical skills, in an environment capable of adapting to match! At My Vets, we pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality of care to our patients and our clinical team is instrumental in delivering that ethos.
There could be scope for an applicant with an interest in dermatology to develop a dermatology service within this branch. Our Tier 3 hospital in Clayton Le Dale provides surgical and inpatient care for our patients, time at the hospital during the working week would be considered if requested by the applicant.
About the Team and Culture
With our new management team in place, we are recruiting to build up our veterinary team. We currently have 14 FTE vets, including three surgery certificate holders, two medicine certificate holders, an anaesthesia certificate holder and are able to provide advanced dental treatment with a vet completing her certificate in oral surgery and dentistry.
Our nursing team are incredibly supportive, and handle many routine appointments to help with the workload of our vets, including some Schedule 3 procedures. The candidate will be based at one of our branches, but will be working closely alongside our whole team. Time at other branches is possible, either on a fixed basis or even just for specific procedures or experiences as this can be organised within our rota. The practice has a vibrant, exciting feel, with regular out of work activities including monthly walks, social events. We work alongside local Cats Protection branches to provide free neutering via their voucher scheme, and have links with local and national RSPCA branches.
Our hospital in Clayton le Dale is well equipped with a CT scanner, advanced ultrasound, endoscopy, digital X-ray, dental radiography, and multiple surgical suites, as well as an onsite hydrotherapy & rehabilitation centre. The area has great transport links and is within 1 hour of Manchester and Liverpool airport and you can be in London within 2hrs on the train. Lancashire has a good mix of rural vs city. Clayton Le Dale boasts some of the best hidden gems of walking country and locally offers a broad selection of traditional pubs, restaurant, cafes and shops.
Applicant Requirements
This role does involve sole charge work so candidates must be happy with this and is a consulting-only role when based at Padiham. Applicants are required to hold MRCVS status and be able to work in the UK. Overseas applicants will be considered with the possibility of sponsorship if required.
