The Role

At Notpla, we create disappearing packaging carefully engineered for a healthy planet. Founded on the belief that nature knows best, we’re an innovative, ideas and action-oriented scale-up developing and manufacturing packaging solutions from seaweed and plants that disappear naturally. We are currently looking to recruit a Sales Manager to work on our foremost product, food-to-go boxes and containers made from Notpla’s proprietary coated board. In this role you will be responsible for selling across the UK’s expansive food service industry.

This is an exciting time to join Notpla in the current role. The company achieved £1.5m revenue last year and expects rapid growth in the next 18-24 months. The commercial team is a talented group from diverse backgrounds, providing a wide range of skills to call upon to meet unique commercial goals and challenges. As a team traditionally arranged in a product-focused matrix structure, we have seen the need to create a deeper leadership structure incorporating market specialities as we grow and develop. As a National Account Manager you will be responsible for opening opportunities in the food service industry, selling Notpla’s revolutionary coated board in the form of finished products to distributors and end clients, and in the form of board to converters.


Your profile

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of delivering on targets, within the foodservice industry. Although direct experience in selling packaging would be extremely beneficial, experience as an end user of single use packaging in the food service industry will definitely be considered. You will need to have excellent negotiation and communication skills and be able to form lasting and mutually beneficial partnerships with our large network of customers. As well as this you will need to have a knowledge of how to build and maintain a sales pipeline, all whilst being able to articulate the incredible benefits and impact of Notpla products. As well as the above you will also be responsible for:

  • Managing and qualifying inbound enquiries, and leading introductory calls with prospective clients discussing the environmental, commercial and technical benefits of working with Notpla (supported by other relevant Notpla employees at relevant points).

  • Developing new business opportunities by conducting introductory calls with both qualified and unqualified leads.

  • Proposing, structuring and pitching commercial presentations to prospective new customers.

  • Influencing the ongoing development of the relevant product strategy, including the Where to Play and How to Win decisions.

  • Work with existing clients to understand any opportunity to scale and grow revenue, to ensure we are maximising the potential of every account.

  • Ownership of your own database of existing and prospective customers.

  • Work with our customers to collect feedback that can be used to continually develop our product range and capabilities.

  • Ownership of personal sales pipeline.

  • Negotiate deals with new and existing customers to extract the maximum amount of value for Notpla.
