Job Summary

We are seeking a knowledgeable and highly experienced Principal Consultant to provide expert advice and technical solutions to our clients in the maritime industry. The successful candidates will have a strong background and extensive experience, able to provide consultancy services in any of the following disciplines in Submarine engineering:

  1. Marine engineering
  2. Safety Engineering and Safety Management
  3. Systems Engineering
  4. Supportability
  5. Nuclear Engineering
  6. Naval Architecture

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance, thought-leadership, and expert advice.
  • Shape our technical services, lead Naval Solutions’ technical disciplines.
  • Undertake feasibility studies, cost-benefit analysis, risk analysis, and assessment.
  • Provide Technical Support and Assurance to clients.
  • Review and evaluate design proposals, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Author technical documents, reports, manuals, and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in Submarine design.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong Leadership skills and experience.
  • Self-starting personality.
  • Strong Technical background.
  • Excellent Teamwork skills.
  • Candidates must be able to satisfy SC clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
  • 5 years of experience in the Submarine industry, with a proven track record of successful projects.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline related field.
  • Engineering Fellow or working towards becoming an Engineering Fellow.
  • Although not essential, this role would particularly suit a Royal Navy/ Merchant Navy/ ex-MoD personnel.
  • 10 years of experience in the Submarine industry, with a proven track record of successful projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of either vessel design, construction, or operation.
  • Understanding relevant regulations and standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to supervise multiple projects.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
