Reporting to - Director of Networks

Up to £70k

Location - Remote within the UK

Full time (Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week)

Network Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Network Engineer, you will work for one of the fastest-growing access network providers.

You will be involved supporting the design, build and maintenance of Netomnia’s carrier ethernet access network.

Responsibilities

As the Network Engineer you will be responsible for:

Provisioning, monitoring and maintenance of hardware, software and network in new and existing POP sites
Ensuring system availability and reliability
Working with a team on an out-of-hours on-call support rota
Collaborating with internal teams (systems, field engineering, customer service, and planning) for day to day activities.
Operating and maintaining carrier ethernet network delivering IP data, voice and video to deployed access network.
Configuring and installing various network devices and services (e.g. switches and OLTs)
Proactively contributing to documentation, automation and processes as they evolve including standard operating procedures
Seeking opportunities to introduce cutting-edge technology and automation solutions that are effective, efficient and scalable in order to improve our ability to deploy and maintain our infrastructure.
Supporting and troubleshooting second and third tier escalations to resolve issues

Skills

Proficiency in Linux operating system
Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
Must be proactive with proven ability to learn fast and execute on multiple tasks simultaneously.

Knowledge

Understanding of IP networks and TCP/IP technologies as well as L2/L3 fundamentals
Understanding of carrier ethernet technologies (QinQ, EVPN, PPPoE, QoS etc)
In-depth understanding of routing protocols (IS-IS, BGP) and data carrying techniques (MPLS)
