Job Description

Network Engineer for Sites and Services , you will set up new temporary sites (circa 50), look after 20 permanent offices and the London head office. This will involve initial fit outs, removals, relocations of sites, and general moves and changes, with the assistance of external MSPs & ISPs providing Network and Infrastructure services.

You must have previous knowledge and hands-on experience with Firewalls, Switches, Routers (FortiGate, HP preferably), WiFi, Azure, CCTV, Active Directory, MFD Printers. This is a Hybrid role, requiring 4 days in the office, based in Central London, and paying up to 65k. The role reports to the IT Manager and is with the Head office of a London-based construction company with more than 20 permanent sites and over 50 temporary sites spread across the UK. You will be part of an IT Department of 11, reporting to the IT Manager.

They are about to embark on a complete Technical System refresh, rolling out Fortigate HP Firewalls, Switches, and Routers Azure. This role is specifically to coordinate and manage three MSPs. You must have experience in this area and previously been hands-on to understand what is expected of the MSPs, who need to set up temporary standalone locations very quickly using 4G routers.

Langley James is proud to partner with this 40-year-old Construction company, located close to Liverpool Street Station, to find a talented Network Infrastructure Coordinator/Manager of Networks and Firewalls. This is a fantastic opportunity for a results-oriented individual to join a growing team and play a pivotal role in a significant technical system refresh project.

Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with and report to the IT Manager, being accountable for office and site networks and infrastructure while managing 3 MSPs and ISPs, working towards the IT/business strategy.
  2. Coordinate the Managed Service Providers in the installation, setup, and configuration of Local Area Networks (LANs), ordering of network hardware, deployment, upgrades, patching, and support of data and voice networks.
  3. Monitor network infrastructure health using tools, resilience, capacity, operational performance, and overall effectiveness of the network estate across the Group and report bi-weekly to the IT Manager and Head of IT.
  4. Work closely with ISPs and manage the firewall estate to maintain operational performance and overall effectiveness.
  5. Proactively log and resolve connectivity outages and faults with ISPs.
  6. Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery by supporting office and site network outages and incidents, maintaining high availability of networks across the company.
  7. Monitor network and infrastructure health, resilience, capacity, operational performance, and overall effectiveness with ISPs and MSPs, reporting bi-weekly to the Head of IT and IT Manager.
  8. Maintain and manage successful implementation of network IP addressing environment and VPN setups between offices to ensure quality and continuity of IT operations.
  9. Order, implement, deliver, test, and set up by liaising with ISPs to deploy office and site connectivity.
  10. Order and manage rapid connectivity to enable instant site mobilization, providing fast, reliable, and secure internet to reduce the risk of site setup delays.
  11. Maintain business continuity by being proactive when relocating site networks and equipment.
  12. Manage effective cost management and cancellation of site connectivity and network equipment returns.
  13. Provide and maintain an up-to-date inventory and configuration for all operational infrastructures, hardware, software, and software licenses, including warranty information.
  14. Monitor, liaise, and manage network incidents and security intelligence with the SOC team; manage and monitor the firewall estate on the SOC platform.
  15. Implement proactive, preventive, and reactive maintenance of incident and security threat intelligence from SOC to ISPs, troubleshooting network devices communicating via rogue ports.
