Job Description

Are you a compassionate, experienced and motivated nurse, looking for a fantastic new opportunity to make a difference to the lives of people living with inherited neurological conditions?

Due to the retirement of the current post holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Neurogenetics Service, based at the internationally renowned National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. The service sees people with/at risk of inherited neurological conditions and provides input across the disease trajectories from genetic counselling, education and support before and at onset, through monitoring and management of mild, moderate and complex disability to palliative care at the end of life.

As this is a specialist role, support will be given by the team to enable the successful candidate to gain the necessary knowledge and expertise to allow them to work as an autonomous practitioner.

Main duties of the job

The clinical nurse specialist is pivotal in ensuring the provision of high quality care, running (in time) their own outpatient nurse led telephone and face to face clinics in addition to participating in consultant led clinics.

The post holder will also manage the patient and professional response service, acting as an expert resource both internally and externally and will contribute to the efficient running of the service, service development initiatives, the clinical governance programme and clinical research.

The post holder will therefore need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.
