Footballco is looking for a dynamic News Editor to drive the next phase of newsroom growth on Goal.com.

What would we need from you?
- Manage the GOAL homepage with a particular eye for creative imagery
- Send engaging mobile app alerts to our audience, closely following house style
- Proactively seek out & source the stories that matter
- Assign news stories to full-time staff & freelancers
- Write engaging, SEO-friendly headlines in line with GOAL’s house style
- Sub-edit & publish content to the highest possible standard
- Availability for evening & weekend work
- Determination to make a difference & attack each day with meaningful contributions
Key skills:
- At least three years experience working in a similar role, ideally within sport
- Expert knowledge of football & Europe’s big-five leagues in particular
- A solid grasp of women’s football in England, including the Lionesses & WSL
- An understanding of U.S. soccer & MLS, with a particular focus on Inter Miami
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Active on Twitter & Instagram & understand their importance within football media
- Ability to write emotive headlines & copy that make our readers feel something
- Knowledge & understanding of SEO best practices
- Experience using Getty Images & photo editing software (desirable)
- Understanding of Google Analytics, Chartbeat & how to monitor traffic (desirable)
