The Nuclear Fire Assessor is responsible for:
- You’ll support programme and project radiation transport leads where requested. You’ll assist the Head of Profession in capability development and establishment and implementation of resource strategies, recruitment plans and competence.
- Identify, implement, review and monitor the organisation and programme specific management and technical arrangements to support delivery.
- Prepare and coordinates assessment and analysis delivery for projects, interfacing with engineering, project management, project controls and document management functions.
- Advise leadership, engineering, programme and project management, and clients (intelligent Customer), on regulatory compliance, standards and guidance.
- Assist safety case assurance though project, programme and corporate requirements
- Defines and develops interfaces between all related functions, including engineering and projects to ensure work is delivered
- Supports the client in interactions with Regulators and safety committees
- Support business development function as required
Requirements:
- Ideally Degree (or equivalent education)
- Proven experience of nuclear fire safety assessment, principally nuclear safety assessment and conventional fire safety assessment and management.
- Experience of application of codes and assessment in a wide range of operations and fault scenarios.
- Experience in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations.
- Knowledge of conventional fire safety assessment
- Experience of managing staff and contractors.
- Knowledge of a range of nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools
- Solid understanding of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment and nuclear Site Licence Conditions
- Knowledge of Regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning
- Ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting
- Travel will be required, upto several days at a time in the UK and occasional overseas travel
- Supervisory experience, and possess good oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing Good MS applications, organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work
Desirable:
- Experience of safety case in civil reactors and defence sector
- Previous working knowledge of UK nuclear new build
- Experience of international nuclear safety assessment Project management and project controls
- Stakeholder management
- Ability to mentor and coach.
