The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the Project Quality program is understood and implemented by the supply chain. Maintain and administer quality and safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. Maintain adherence to quality requirements established under ISO 9001. This position is essential in ensuring that the QA/QC requirements are fully understood and deployed across the project, working closely with the supply chain to do so.


Essential Responsibilities:


  • Attend and actively participate in Project Lead Team, Head of Profession and client meetings Participate in Project Quality Kick off Meetings with supply chain and the client.
  • Update and provide KPI data for the project ensuring that it is being collated and presented for Corporate reporting.
  • Handle responding (where appropriate) to customer complaints and deficiency reports, working with the project team to take appropriate measures to resolve.
  • Remain current on quality control practices and trends through training, publications, seminars, conferences and related trade shows.
  • Recommend new processes or inspection methods to improve quality.
  • Coordinate with contract Quality Manager to develop and maintain health and safety environmental policies and procedures that align with the quality program.
  • Manage the Quality Control Grading Training and maintain adequate SQEP records to evidence completion. Ensure Supply Chain is aware of and adheres to the requirement.
  • Provide QE expertise and support as per the project requirements
  • Conduct/lead compliance, internal and sub-contractor/supplier audits, investigation of non-conforming products/processes and ensuring effective corrective and preventive action is taken to close out NCRs in a timely manner and in accordance with requirements.
  • Facilitate and support project team/supply chain with root cause analysis, corrective action, and continual improvement of processes.
  • Ensure that the supply chain plan and manage Life-Time Quality Records, engaging with the Supply chain to ensure that they are fully aware and cognizant of the records requirements. Monitor the compilation of records generated in support of activities performed on a highly regulated nuclear site.
  • Ensure Toolbox talks and LfE is collated as required by the project.
  • To determine the inspection, test and compliance regime to be applied to a project by reference to the project specifications and associated documents.
  • Manage and be responsible for the timely productions, review, approval, management and verification of supplier Manufacturing Inspection and Test Plans required for activities performed on and off site.
  • Ensure the quality of the project, product, records, service and their supporting processes meet the standards and specifications required by the associated contract.
  • Attend inspections as required by the Programme.
  • Provide input to the International Quality Management System.
  • Ensuring that the arrangements identified in the Project QA/QC Strategy are implemented within the project; typically this will include the Project Execution Plan.
  • Ensure that supplier Quality Plans and Inspection and Test plans with the appropriate hold witness and review points are monitored and received.
  • Promote company and client quality objectives and expectations.
  • Investigate and document all instances of contract non-compliance as relates to quality, safety and unsafe practices.
  • Report any unusual discrepancies or problems promptly to Quality Manager and client leadership and provide recommend solutions. Coordinate with department managers, supervisors and workers to improve and/or resolve issues.
  • Conduct special evaluations, quality surveys and audits. Compile reports and findings of surveys and audits for company officials for review and make action recommendations as required.
  • Conduct and direct internal/external management audits, prepare formal audit reports, and define audit schedules. Ensuring full adherence to ISO9001.



Competencies/Qualifications/Experience


  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
  • ISO9001 Internal Auditor
  • Third party / supplier auditing.
  • NCR generation and management.
  • Excellent knowledge of ISO 9001:2015
  • Understanding of ISO 14001 / 45001 / 44001 / 27001 (not essential) requirements.
  • Experience of working to Quality Control grading
  • Experience and understanding of process improvement.
  • Experience of working in highly regulated industry.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ideally Bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance or related subject,
  • Proven Engineering, Business Management or related field
  • Security Clearance status hugely advantageous.
  • Nuclear Industry experience required.
  • Ability to secure BPSS and SC is a conditional requirement of this position.
  • Membership of appropriate professional body (I.e., CQI) or willingness to attain.
  • Detail-orientated, Possess the confidence to actively lead and manage a team and the client.
