Role purpose

In this role, we’ll ask you to ensure that GB Bank is appropriately identifying, monitoring and managing our operational risks. You’ll be key in providing Line 2 oversight and challenge to our business areas (Line 1) on the management of their operational risks.


In this role you’ll find yourself…

  • Leading the development of operational risk management capabilities across the business (e.g. risk appetite, policies, framework, processes, RCSAs, risk event reporting, scenario analysis, MI, etc.)
  • Provide Line 2 oversight on a broad range of operational risks, including: (i) operational resilience; (ii) information security; (iii) data privacy; (iv) incident management; (v) business continuity / DR; (vi) outsourcing / 3rd party risk management; (vii) change management; (viii) technology
  • Leading the review & refresh of RCSAs across the business
  • Delivering of operational risk related Risk Assurance reviews
  • Providing Line 2 advice & challenge to all business areas re. operational risk management
  • Leading operational scenario analysis to support capital assessments
  • Leading 2nd line SYSC8 contract reviews and oversight (e.g. onboarding due diligence, annual capability reviews, ongoing relationship management, etc.)
  • Risk’s MI lead for Op Risk Committee, developing & managing spreadsheets, reports, etc.
  • Lead the sourcing, implementation and ongoing management of a Governance, Risk & Compliance system to support the business in the management of its risks and controls


A bit about you – You are/have most of the following:

  • Detail oriented and focussed with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and stakeholders
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in an operational risk role, preferably within the financial services sector
  • Excited by the opportunity to work in a start-up bank with a real purpose and passion for the North of England
  • High energy, enthusiastic and can-do mindset
  • Clear communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Exceptional problems solving skills
  • Confident, articulate self-starter

What else do I need to know?


Location: You will predominately work from home but will be required to travel to our offices when your role requires this.

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 per annum, commensurate with experience

Hours: 35 hrs per week
