Job Description

My client has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Estimator or Managing Estimator paying £70,000 to work remotely from their Scotland or Midlands offices, and work within their Power Transmission & Distribution business. The successful candidate will also receive a car allowance or company car.


You will primarily be focussed on estimating for projects associated with overhead lines up to 400kV, for market leading power and distribution organisations, but may will be required to work on other workstreams associated with Power T&D's client portfolio


The ideal candidate will be responsible for appropriately evaluating the cost of a project, and evaluating the cost to take on that project. The candidate will be familiar with our competitive advantages as an organisation and will be able to communicate those to our benefit throughout the bidding process. The individual will also lead our OHL estimating team, as well as work closely alongside our specialist teams in substations, cabling and civils.


Responsibilities


Role Overview:


Has strategic responsibility to a business unit for the OHL estimating function. Includes the governance as well as business change required to maintain procedure, skills and capability. Oversees parts of the business lifecycle relating to OHL Estimating.


To lead OHL estimating team in producing competitive, thorough, well researched estimates and maintaining files/records as appropriate provide an influential pre and post contract estimating management service to the designated business stream to meet profit, quality and service objectives through communication and understanding customer needs whilst providing effective leadership to the team


Line Management of OHL Estimating Team


  • Functional line management of OHL estimators (R12 approvals etc) carry out monthly 1-2-1 meetings with OHL estimating team
  • Carry out monthly 1-2-1 meetings with OHL estimating team
  • Set objectives and undertake PDRs for team
  • Management of COMAEA profiles of team
  • Identify training requirements for team
  • Cascade directives, communications, safety briefings, general updates and procedural changes to team
  • Line management of Graduates who are in placement within OHL estimating, including setting of objectives and monitoring



Estimating Software & Systems


  • Oversee implementation of Candy estimating software used by OHL team


  • Maintain Candy masters pertaining to OHL estimating – annual price updates and framework pricing
