Job Description

Last April 2023, we received the fantastic news that we've been awarded a 5-year Overhead Line framework with Northern Powergrid! We can now report that we have one year already under our belt, and we're proud to say it's been a tremendous success so far. But we're not stopping there. Over the next 12 months, we're gearing up to expand our resources and outputs even further.

We are looking for the following roles to support our growth strategy;

•Overhead Lines Planners (with HV & LV experience)

IUS is part of the Northern Powergrid group, and provides a wide range of services on public & private electrical distribution systems. This includes substation construction and maintenance activity. IUS also operates as an Independent Connections Provider (ICP), designing and installing network connections to adoptable standards. We also deliver multi-utility services for housing developers for their electric, water and gas mains and services. Our industrial resources provide a wide range of High Voltage and Low Voltage services including cable jointing, electrical fitting and overhead line works to the highest standards.

Overhead Lines Chargehand

Reporting to the Resource Manager, you will supervise all aspects of Overhead Lines work. This includes setting colleagues workload, control and management of safe working practices, driving productivity and efficiencies and providing technical assistance onsite.

Salary: Up to £60,091 (working a 48-hour week)

Location: Stockton

Key responsibilities:

•Ensure industry compliance is adhered to and quality of work is always achieved.

•Issue and provide face to face delivery of task instructions to the team.

•Control and manage on site safety, quality and efficiency.

•Ensure risk assessments are carried out daily and to a high-quality standard.

•Track all planned work has been pre-visited to ensure all preparatory work required has been achieved prior to commencement.

•Liaise with councils and members of the public to ensure that works can be programmed and in turn delivered on site.

•Ordering materials required to carry out work with the support of the Storekeeper.

•Resolve non-conformances and customer complaints where necessary.

Essential qualifications and experience:

•Experience working as an LE1+ Lines Person on DNO networks for over 5 years

•Distributor Network Operator Authorisations: A1, O2.1, O2.2, O3.1, O10.2, O10.4, O10.5, W3

•Manual Handling, Pole Top Rescue, First Aid certificates

•CAT & Genie training

•Pole Handling training

•Full, clean UK driving licence

•Experience using all Microsoft Office applications

•Experience in customer and client management

Overhead Lines Operatives

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will deliver LV and HV Overhead Lines work in line with company productivity expectations.

Salary: between £42,542 and £58,657 (working a 48-hour week)

Location: Stockton

Key responsibilities:

•Carry out construction, refurbishment and maintenance works at both LV & HV.

•Drive customer service and satisfaction by meeting scheduled appointments and delivering work safely and efficiently.

•Complete all relevant documentation such as; SCPP task instructions, as-built records, photos etc.

•Use of plant machinery up to 10 tonne.

Essential qualifications and experience:

•Distributor Network Operator Authorisations: A1, O2.1, O2.2, O3.1, O10.2, O10.4, O10.5, W3, W5.1, W5.2

•NRSWA Supervisor qualification

•Construction Plant Competency card

•International Powered Access Federation training

•Full, clean UK driving licence

Overhead Lines Planner

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will plan, develop and deliver overhead line projects ensuring they are delivered safely, to a quality standard and to the satisfaction of the client.

Salary: between £56,000 and £66,873 (working a 48-hour week)

Location: Stockton

Key responsibilities:

•Ensure all work planned is achieved in a timely manner adhering to all relevant ONO guaranteed standards.

•Manage the completion and submission of all OHL site construction works to the client where necessary.

•Chair, document and manage the actions from the internal weekly team progress meetings.

•Manage the organising of all support activities where required such as plant and machinery.

•Ensure that all work planned has been commercially assessed and all income, costs and variations have been considered.

•Provide KPI, planned and actual, performance and monitoring information to the Contract Manager.

Essential qualifications and experience:

•ONC in Electrical Engineering or Overhead Line authorisation codes held for a minimum of 5 years

•Experience planning both LV and HV works in DNO areas

•Full, clean UK driving licence

•Experience using all Microsoft Office applications

•Experience in customer and client management

Project Coordinator

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will provide active on-site management and dispensing of duties under the CDM Principle Contractor role.

Salary: between £53,846 and £64,301 (working a 48-hour week)

Location: Stockton

Key responsibilities:

•Co-ordinate, lead and pro-actively manage all site activities.

•Establishment of safe systems of work on site in accordance with health and safety legislation including CDM where applicable.

•Liaise with clients and third parties stakeholders daily.

•Control and management of sub-contractors.

•Produce and maintain site documentation, record and reporting to the planner.

•Material and tool testing control/management.

•Conduct safety and quality audits and deliver toolbox talks and briefs to the industrial staff.

Essential qualifications and experience:

•Relevant qualification in Civil, Utilities or Electrical infrastructure

•Overhead Line site management experience around the operational delivery, quality, safety and environmental aspects and the working practices around Northern Powergrid OHL specifications

•Experience in the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) code of practice

•Experience scheduling work and resources

•Experience identifying risks and implementing mitigation measures to support the delivery team
