An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, experienced nurse to lead our Children's Specialist Clinical Immunology service at The Royal London Hospital. The Royal London Children's Hospital, is a specialist tertiary paediatric hospital with 109 inpatient beds and cots, serving a consistent cohort of both acute and complex long-term inpatients whilst also supporting a very large of cohort of children receiving home therapies. There may also be opportunities to support our infectious diseases clinics.
We are seeking a dynamic, motivated, and experienced clinical leader with a passion for delivering high quality care. You should have significant applicable experience at band 6 or 7, with excellent teaching and communication skills with an aim to run specialist independent nurse led clinical immunology clinics including general immunology, immunodeficiency, angioedema diagnoses and have experience of home therapy for immunology patients.
You must have attention to detail and the facility for critical analysis to support decisive decision making. You should have robust research experience and have taken an active part in research studies/trials.
The post holder must have the ability to work as part of an MDT team, in partnership across professions and at all levels both within Barts Health, nationally and internationally.
Main duties of the job
The paediatric immunology service at The Royal London Hospital delivers a seamless service to children, young people and their families/carers by providing the highest level of expert clinical and nursing care both whilst inpatient and in patients homes.
The post holder will be an advocate for children, young people, and their families/carers, promoting child focused, family centered care. You will act as a resource for patients, families and staff for immunological conditions and respective medications.
The post holder will take an active role in the management of children with immunological conditions working alongside paediatric immunology and general paediatric teams. The role involves working within a multidisciplinary team, organising teaching and treatments either in our day-care or home environment. You will work closely with our consultants, administration and pharmacy teams and liaise with home care companies to ensure seamless processes are maintained.
A major part of the role is the management of the home care programme, including administration of Immunoglobulin therapy for primary and secondary deficiency, and one of the UK's largest nationally funded home administration programme of C1 esterase inhibitor and other acute therapy for angioedema.
