FloodFlash is an award-winning parametric insurance MGA. With a diverse team spanning two continents, they help protect thousands of organisations in the UK and US from catastrophic flooding. We are a passionate team with a range of backgrounds and skills. What we have in common is our shared values, and that together we plan to solve a problem that devastates millions of lives around the world.

We are pioneering the development of the parametric insurance market.

As a Parametric Structurer at FloodFlash, your mission will be to ensure that our solutions are accurately tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients. This role reports to the Chief Underwriting Officer. Your work will be at the intersection of underwriting and business development, where you will play a critical role in shaping our product offerings, driving conversion rates, and scaling our business.

Over the past six years, we've built an exceptional foundation in both underwriting and distribution. We are now looking for someone to complement these departments, structuring larger, more complex deals and increasing our conversion rates in both the UK and US markets. Your impact will be pivotal in scaling our solutions, shaping our client offerings, and helping FloodFlash continue its journey toward becoming a leader in parametric insurance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Client-centric solutions: Develop FloodFlash solutions that are aligned with client requirements, including pricing, payout structures, and trigger mechanisms
  • Collaborative execution: Work closely with our underwriting team, business development managers and brokers to deliver effective and innovative insurance products
  • Deal ownership: Take full ownership of structuring and delivering individual large deals, ensuring they are executed to the highest standards
  • Process development: Lead the development of scalable processes and define requirements for tools that will enable efficient structuring at scale
  • Solutions and R&D leadership: Set the direction for structuring R&D initiatives and tool development that will enhance our product offering and client services
  • Strategic Impact: Your ultimate goal will be to increase conversion rates and the scalability of our solutions, helping FloodFlash to grow and thrive

This role would suit someone with:

  • Exceptional stakeholder management: a proven ability to manage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, from technical teams to business leaders
  • Catastrophe modelling: practical experience of catastrophe risk modelling and a good understanding of its underlying principles
  • Parametric insurance expertise: a clear understanding of parametric insurance and the technical issues that come with it
  • Commercial focus: always thinking about how to create value for clients and drive business growth
  • Startup agility: You thrive in a dynamic startup environment, embracing change and wearing multiple hats to get the job done

The base salary range for this role is £50,000 up to £65,000 plus a commercially-driven incentive structure.
