The Patient and Carer Representatives will be integral members of a service user and carer reference group working in parallel to the Steering Group with the NCAP service user advisor, to provide collective feedback on key decisions in the audit.

The focus of NCAP work is to:

  • Help finalise specific healthcare improvement goals to ensure that these reflect issues of importance to people with first episode psychosis and their families/carers.
  • Advise on all aspects of the audit.
  • Co-produce public facing reports.

The reference group will meet three times a year. Most of these meetings will be carried out via Microsoft teams however one meeting per year may take place face to face in London.

Representatives are expected to attend and contribute to the service user and carer reference group meetings and collaborate with the group to complete pieces of work, such as providing input into audit documents and reports. Representatives are also expected to take it in turns to attend wider Steering Group meetings, so that two representatives are present at each meeting. There is also the opportunity to contribute to the NCAP quality improvement collaboratives.

RCPsych has developed a high media profile and is a leading organisation in terms of equality and diversity. It was a recent winner of Charity of the Year at the European Diversity Awards.
