Job Description

We are currently looking for a Payroll Manager

To oversee the development and delivery of both weekly and salaried payroll activities including all associated activities e.g. legal and tax requirements, benefit administration and annual processes e.g. P11Ds

  • Effectively process payroll transactions (e.g. salaries, benefits, deductions, taxes and third party payments across both a weekly and salaried in hours payroll function (c1000 employees)
  • Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems, with a continued drive for improvement.
  • Oversee processing of payroll changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, raises) and system upgrades.
  • Benefits Administration (life assurance renewal, income protection, cycle to work, income protection)
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, internal policies and practices.
  • Liaise with auditors and manage payroll tax audits.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
  • Resolve issues and answer payroll-related questions.
  • Identify systems and process improvement to drive efficiencies across payroll and Mitre finch
  • Educate managers on related process, process changes etc.
  • Support HR with ad hoc projects


What you can already do


  • Certified Payroll Professional preferred
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of payroll calculation and processing
  • Managerial/supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of applicable, laws and legislation
  • Solid financial acumen
  • Proficiency in relevant payroll and accounting software
  • Comprehensive understanding of tax and payroll law
  • Mathematics for calculating taxes and employee wages.
  • Computer literacy in using Microsoft Office suite and payroll software.
  • Written and verbal communication, including active listening and report writing.
  • Deductive reasoning for analysing raw payroll data and using it to develop and refine payroll policies.
  • Knowledge of Mitre Finch – would be a great advantage.
