Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Littlehampton, West Sussex

We are recruiting for a Permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join an established, small animal practice in Rustington, West Sussex. This role is full time with a full week off every 4 weeks on a rolling rota, averaging out at 35 hours per week. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.

This role is ideal for an enthusiastic vet who is looking for their next clinical challenge and a role where they can develop their clinical skills and knowledge further with additional career progression opportunities available.

The practice is fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and they pride themselves on delivering high standard of clinical care. They are a forward thinking and pro-active practice. They see a busy and varies case load.

Who are they looking for

They are looking for a Vet who enjoys working within a busy practice and someone who is confident in routine surgeries and consultations. They must also be confident with some sole charge work.

The vet will have excellent communication and client care skills and be ambitious to grow their own client bases. Areas of special interest are supported within the practice so if there are areas of specialism that the vet would like to study towards this would be funded.

  • Type: Small animal
  • Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week on average, 4-week rolling rota
  • TOIL: Full week off every 4 weeks

  • Computer system: RX Works
  • Consultations: 15 minutes
  • Team: 12 vets, 10 RVNs, 3 SVNs and 3 kennels assistants and a separate reception team

About you:

  • You will be ambitious and motivated and excited to develop and expand a practice
  • You will be looking to move into a more senior role with leadership development
  • A bias in orthopaedics would be advantageous
  • Previous experience in emergency surgery and laparoscopic spays would be advantageous but not essential
  • You will have an approachable, empathetic, and caring attitude
  • You will be passionate about all aspects of your veterinary work
  • You will enjoy building up your own client base
  • You will be driven and ambitious
  • Ambition to study towards areas of special interest are welcome but not essential for the role
  • You will be able to establish good working relationships with clients and be confident in all consultations
  • You will contribute to the practice with ideas enabling them to stay at the forefront of clinical thinking whilst also maintaining the ethos of providing a high standard of clinical care to all pets
  • You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop a great rapport with both clients and staff
  • You will be a strong team player

Package:

  • Salary: £34,000 to £55,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
  • Holidays: 28 days annual leave, rising to 33 days after 2 years of service
