About The Role We are recruiting for PHP Developers to join our expanding IT department- from entry level developers to those leading several teams. Our PHP developers contribute to improvements, new features and maintenance of our Symfony 4/5 based web applications. Working as a member of our agile development team, new features are written using Object Oriented (OO) PHP, MySQL, HTML5 and JavaScript in an environment that encourages learning and the advancement of your technical skills as a developer. As a PHP Developer you have the opportunity to be based remotely or work from our state-of-the-art Head Offices in Barton Upon Humber. Main Responsibilities: Build and maintain Wrens custom built, cutting edge applications (Symfony 4/5 based) Write clean code that is clear and understandable by others Contribute to project estimations Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle Work with senior developers and business stakeholders to understand the initial scope for a new project In addition to any other duties, as a responsible person you must ensure that you have read, understood and adhere to polices and procedure relating to Health and Safety, and your responsibilities located in the Integrated Management System (IMS) Responsibilities document. Free annual eye tests as well as a contribution to new glasses Refer a Friend Scheme with the chance to earn up to £1500 for each referral Quarterly bonus scheme Free access to our onsite gym Subsidised meals in our two fantastic restaurants Free onsite parking About You Essential Skills and Knowledge: At least 2 years experience in creating and maintaining object oriented PHP7 based systems An understanding of the MVC approach to development Experience of working with MySQL (We use v8 currently) Demonstrable knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Ajax Experience of using version control systems (such as Git) as part of a team Desired Skills and Knowledge: A working knowledge of the Symfony (or equivalent) framework A working knowledge of the Doctrine ORM Experience in creating and maintaining RESTFul APIs Experience of automated testing (e.g. PHPUnit, Selenium, Behat) Knowledge of design patterns, with practical experience of implementing them Experience of agile project methodologies (and its impact on iterative design) Experience of working in a continuous integration environment Familiar with Linux or Mac OS
