Job Description

HOURS OF WORK: 0900-1700 Monday to Friday (Hybrid working – 3 days office, 2 days home)

SALARY: £38,000 – £50,000 per annum (depending on experience)

From our Engineering and Project Management offices in Ely, Cambridge, and Fabrication and Assembly facility in Swansea, South Wales, we undertake the complete design and supply of skid mounted or packaged equipment. Since 1989, OGS has supplied to satisfied clients throughout the world. We are accredited by major international operators in the oil, gas and power industries, gas turbine producers and EPC companies. Our scope of supply includes the responsibility for all stages of project execution including initial design, detailed design of process, mechanical, electrical, control and instrumentation, manufacturing, testing, packing and shipping. We also provide a site erection and commissioning service if required. Oil & Gas Systems Limited (OGS) and its sister systems company, Oil & Gas Measurement Limited (OGM), are both based at our premises in Ely, just north of Cambridge. Oil & Gas Holdings (OGH) is the corporate holding company to both OGS and OGM, which also has other associated companies in the oil and gas industry worldwide.

We are seeking an experienced Piping Design Engineer – this is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to become involved in the design of our bespoke engineered packages.

· Laying out pipe routing based on process drawings (e.g. P&ID’s), pipe specifications and project requirements (e.g. space restrictions, process requirements & maintenance access).

· Generating conceptual 3D Models at Enquiry / Proposal stage and detailed 3D Models at Project stage.

· Performing pipe stress analysis using Caesar II software and producing detailed pipe stress reports

· Creating 2D CAD drawings such as Piping Isometrics, fabrication drawings & GA’s for manufacture

· Producing BOMs for purchasing

· Working closely with Project Managers and Discipline Engineers to ensure safe & economical design

· Reviewing & interpreting customer specifications and national / international codes & standards

· Resolving technical queries and ensuring that all design changes are captured by the change control process

· Participating in key meetings such as clarifications, handovers, design reviews & closeout

· Providing input into project planning regarding budget and schedule

· Carrying out customer-facing activities such as meetings, site visits & presentations

· Reviewing Supplier drawings for integration into the package

· Performing Pipe Support Calculations (e.g. Trunnions & Shoes)

· Carrying out preliminary structural design

· Overseeing Sub-Contracted Mechanical Design

· Checking drawings & documents where necessary

· Knowledge of current legislation / relevant standards & piping codes, such as ASME B31.3 & British Standards.

· Previous experience in designing pipework / assemblies for bespoke engineering packages (preferably oil & gas, but others will be considered).

· Excellent communication, problem solving & interpersonal skills.

· Degree or HND qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar.

Preferred Skills:

· Working knowledge of Autodesk Advance Steel & Robot Structure.

· Working toward professional registration.

Some travel to our workshop in South Wales may be required from time to time.
