Job Description

Your role is largely focused on Leadership/Management of the entire Platform function, including being responsible for hiring new Engineers etc. It is very important that you are willing and happy to get your hands dirty and do the nitty gritty Engineering side of things too, whilst also taking sole responsibility for your team.

The hands-on side of things will require extensive DevOps/Platform/Site Reliability knowledge/experience with the following technologies:

Must have!

  • AWS/GCP
  • Terraform
  • Security (general)

Supplementary:

  • Packer
  • BitBucket
  • AppDynamics
  • DataDog
  • Ansible
  • Sitecore
  • ColdFusion
  • IIS

Your understanding of DevOps Engineering will need to go deeper than your bog-standard DevOps Engineer who may just be left to deal with a pre-determined issue. You'll need to have second-to-none understanding when it comes to Containers and CI/CD principles as well as an almost fortune teller's view of how Kubernetes/Mesos/Docker Swarm etc are shaping the industry and what might come next. This is because part of your remit will be to plan for the evolution and next stages of the Platform and make informed decisions about what technologies to implement and potentially what to let go.

The team you'll be leading are responsible for building a next-gen platform to which you'll be expected to do the road-mapping, making the difficult decisions. This will be the first the first stage, making sure everything is repeatable and scalable, for this model to then be rolled out across multiple countries upon it's initial success, with constant improvements being expected.

This role will get you into a role where your ideas will be what shapes the future, so you'll have to come to the table with some innovative plans. If you're all of the above and want to take on the challenge of your career, get in touch for the full details...
