Southwark Council is recruiting a Policy and Public Affairs Officer.

This exciting role in our external affairs division will help put Southwark at the forefront of public policy debate and make sure that the interests of Southwark residents are well represented to key decision makers across the public and private sectors.

You will monitor parliamentary business, interpreting how legislative developments impact the borough and proactively promote Southwark externally. You will contribute to the articulation of Southwark policy and support the Leader and the Cabinet by providing engaging briefings for speeches, events and publications. You will build a network of key stakeholders to champion Southwark’s calls and advocate our policy positions to improve the lives of people in the borough.

Working with our media, marketing and cabinet support teams you will work on a range of issues which affect the daily lives of our 300,000 residents.

This is an exciting role in the heart of the council where you will need to think creatively to find solutions to the challenges which the council faces. Part of a small team you will make a big impact and help the council deliver its visions of a fairer future for all in Southwark.
