Operating across multiple branches in the UK, Crouch Waterfall is a forward thinking Civil, Structural and Geotechnical Engineering Consultancy working on buildings, railway infrastructure, temporary works, bridges and geotechnics. Established since 1981, the business has enjoyed steady growth driven by a committed and highly skilled workforce of 100 employees.


The Role

You’ll join the close-knit team of 6 based within the welcoming and relaxed Warrington office, and work with other offices across different projects.


Reporting to the Company Director and Associate as a Technical and Project Lead, you will lead and inspire a team of Engineers and Technicians across wide variety of projects, from small value projects up to £20m in construction value. The position requires a candidate who is keen to diversify and encompass the scope of our project tasks which covers commercial structures, public sector structures, rail, domestic and temporary works design amongst others.


The role would suit someone with a background in structural and temporary works design and the ability to understand the requirement for permanent and temporary works design to support our engineering teams and main contractors with solving their construction difficulties. The candidate should have experience in the use of all structural materials.


Your duties will include, although not be limited to:


  • Leading and managing a team of Engineers and Technicians, including mentoring, coaching and training
  • Taking ownership of own projects across buildings schemes
  • Carrying out inspections, site surveys and assessments of structures and preparing reports
  • Overseeing the design of civil & structural schemes and checking designs prepared by others, including detailed calculations by hand and through computer models.
  • Advising junior staff on solutions and supporting other team members on developing solutions
  • Preparing and managing project programmes, workload and resources along with the directors
  • Liaising with clients to verify project scope and ensure deliverables
  • Preparation of tenders and fee proposals
  • Developing new and existing client relationships
  • Meeting with clients to promote the skills we provide
  • Development of new work opportunities
  • Development of the team, including interviewing and resourcing

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working 40 hours per week. There is flexibility with start and finish times available however, the core working hours are Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm.


What will I need to be considered for this vacancy?


To be considered for this role you will have the following experience, qualifications, skills, knowledge and attributes;


  • Relevant Civil or Structural Engineering degree
  • Working towards Chartership Interview exam (attributes close to or signed off) or Chartered (ICE or IStructE)
  • Strong technical knowledge within assessment and design including inspections, calculations and analysis of existing structures and new-build design development
  • Considerable project management experience across buildings, bridges and temporary works, with drive and a proven record to meeting targets
  • Experience within the UK industry; preferably with Eurocode and Highway standards
  • Experience leading and developing a team of Engineers
  • Client focused approach with effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • UK driving licence and own transport
  • Independent rights to live and work in the UK
