Grade: Agenda for Change Band 8ASalary: £53,513-£ 57,767 per annum (pro rata part-time hours)Hours: 0.6 WTE (22.5 hours)Location: Sandyford Service, 6 Sandyford Place, Glasgow G3 7NBRelocation Package where appropriateReference: 140025NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest NHS Board in Scotland with our 39,000 staff providing services to a population of 1.2 million people resident in our area. We also provide specialist services on behalf of the West of Scotland for the population of 2.7 million people and provide a number of national services which are accessed from across Scotland.An exciting opportunity for a Principal Clinical Psychologist in the Gender Identity Service provided by the Sandyford (specialist sexual health service for Greater Glasgow and Clyde) has arisen.This role presents an opportunity to work in both the Adult and Young People’s service.The post holder will provide up to 0.6 whole-time equivalent (22.5 hours) input to the Gender Identity Service per week.The successful candidate will be required to provide clinical psychology input across the service conducting highly specialist assessments and psychology consultation.The Gender Identity Service at the Sandyford is currently undergoing service improvement to ensure access to services by reducing our wait lists.With a successful bid to the Scottish Government as part of their NHS Gender Identity Services Strategic Action Framework 2022-2024, the clinic is able to fund new service models, and increase our support to those awaiting access to the Gender Identity Service.The new service model will expand our current MDT to include pharmacy, psychology assistant, nursing and administrative posts.The Gender Identity Service at the Sandyford provides assessments and treatments for Adults and Young People with Gender Incongruence and gender distress. It is a multi-disciplinary service tasked with assessing, offering interventions and assisting service users in finding the best solutions to their current presentations.

The Gender Identity Service is the largest service of its kind in Scotland, the young people’s service receives referrals from across Scotland, whilst the Adult Clinic is for West of Scotland Patients in addition to NHS Highland and 2nd opinions for NHS Tayside.Candidates must demonstrate advanced theoretical and practical knowledge as a clinical psychologists .It is an essential criteria that candidates hold Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS or HCPC, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a clinical psychologist is essential.NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination.
