About Eunomia:

We are an independent and ethical environmental consultancy, a mission-oriented business who's goal is to be influential in bringing about positive change: we embrace this in all that we do. We employ around 150 staff and have offices in Bristol, London, Manchester, Brussels, Athens, New York and Auckland.

We are at the leading edge of many critically important areas of environmental policy, we have a wide client base, covering national and local government as well as the private and NGO sectors. Our work in this area ranges from studies for large corporates through to local government. We undertake an exceptional breadth of project work, examples include; a substantial re-design of the food production system in Wales to bring it closer to achieving net zero; development of a financial and implementation model to decarbonise all UK neighbourhoods at no cost to residents; a critique of whether achieving net zero is enough for the four largest materials production sectors to keep global warming within 1.5 degrees C.

The role:

You will be involved in a range of activities including technical leadership, bid management, client relationship management, and line management. You will play a key role in helping us expand the range and volume of work we deliver in the decarbonisation field, and in training up more junior staff.

You will work alongside colleagues to design and deliver projects that meet clients' needs. You will be involved in or lead multiple projects at once. These may involve supporting local authorities in developing carbon baselines and decarbonisation plans, working with businesses to reduce their carbon footprint, or supporting national or supranational governmental bodies to develop emissions reduction policies. The content of the work may involve developing excel-based models, desktop research, and technical report writing, all informed by a practical understanding of what is possible for different clients to achieve.

Experience profile:

Our ideal must haves:
  • Good technical understanding of how to develop emissions mitigation calculations including at least one of the following areas: Net zero policy design, materials decarbonisation and embedded carbon or the natural environment and the bioeconomy.
  • Strong numerical capabilities and technical know-how, with the ability to build emissions mitigation models, as well as the ability to critically analyse such models;
  • A track record of successful work winning (whether through bid writing or relationship management) with a focus on national and local government, or in policy advocacy - or with equivalent experience from procuring consultancy support;
  • Substantial experience in roles that have involved carbon analysis, modelling and policy design.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including bid and technical report writing.
Some "would be great to haves":
  • An excellent network within the decarbonisation field; Experience working within the consultancy business model; E xperience leading or managing a small team or department; Experience of training and supporting the development of colleagues in technical issues relating to decarbonisation.
