    Here at QBE, we are currently looking to recruit a Business Data Analyst. As one of the analysts working in the Data & MI department you will work with end-users to identify their business and data requirements for various processing and reporting systems. You will be involved in project work to improve and enhance our data capabilities.

    You will be involved in all project phases from requirements gathering through to analysis & design, testing and implementation.

    A key part of the role is to ensure the quality and integrity of our data by promoting and embedding best-practice data standards into QBE change initiatives, providing clarity on the delivery of data requirements through actively understanding the source, quality, and lineage of our data flows.

    • Build and maintain strong relationships across QBE business divisions to ensure the quality and content of the data within the systems meets business requirements.

    • Undertake impact assessment, issue investigation, analysis, and resolution to maintain and improve the quality and coverage of data within the systems.

    • Engage with third party suppliers in the delivery of quality data to support business data requirements.

    • Perform source system data analysis, source-to-target mapping, reconciliation of data at each stage of the ETL process to ensure all data is fully traceable and the lineage of the data is fully understood and is documented.

    Essential Requirements

    • Experience of working on data-driven projects or business functions

    • Experience of querying, and extraction of, data from various sources (e.g. Front-end/Back-end Databases, Policy administration systems, Data warehouses) and the preparation of the data into business usable formats and structures

    • A working knowledge of SQL and an understanding of the processes behind data modelling and data architecture

    • Experience in liaising with business stakeholders to identify, document and communicate business requirements.

    • Experience in producing technical specifications detailing solutions for approval by users and for technical use by developers and testers.

    • Good awareness of the system development lifecycle and disciplines in tandem with a broad awareness of industry standard analysis techniques and approaches.

    • Insurance experience and an understanding of key metrics and underlying financial information elements.
