To help continue our growth and success, we are looking for a creative, proactive and highly motivated Data Scientist with strong expertise in cancer genomics and/or immuno-oncology to join a multidisciplinary team. The role will involve working across multiple teams and projects to deliver actionable insights from clinical and pre-clinical multi-modal data and developing invoX’s bioinformatics capabilities to discover new biomarkers. You will generate novel hypotheses and develop our biomarker plans through the design of experiments and the analysis of in-house generated and publicly available multi-omics clinical datasets. Key Responsibilities

You will:
  • Work within and across multidisciplinary teams to understand various scientific and technical challenges and proactively impact these using data science and ML/AI.
  • Apply appropriate cutting-edge data science tools to deliver actionable insights driving patient selection, mechanisms of action and develop the next generation of cancer therapeutics.
  • Derive new insights from the integration analysis of multi-modal, publicly and in-house generated datasets to help advance the development of invoX drug candidates.
  • Develop methods for omics-based characterization of drug response.
  • Work within and across multidisciplinary teams to translate findings into clinically applicable biomarkers for patient response and stratification.
  • Work with the Translational Sciences and Clinical Development teams to translate questions into data requirements, analysis workflows, and provide innovative ways to identify and visualise meaningful patterns in complex data.
  • Help with the design, curation and maintenance of internal data curation and analysis pipelines.
  • Share code, mentor and train peers in the tools critical to understanding complex data.
  • Provide guidance on experimental design and work collaboratively to influence the generation of data assets.
  • Collaborate with industry partners and academia.
  • Continue to stay up to date on the latest relevant technologies, scientific literature, and translate your learnings into evolving best practices in data science at invoX.
  • Participate and present data at internal and external meetings, generate internal reports and contribute towards scientific publications, patents and regulatory submissions.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

You will have a MSc/PhD/DPhil in bioinformatics, computational biology, natural sciences/molecular biology/genetics/biochemistry, computer science, data science, statistics or a related field, Plus significant industry experience.
You’ll have applied your data science/bioinformatic research expertise in a cancer research/immunology related fields (e.g., cancer genomics and/or immuno-oncology projects) for a number of years and have experience in analysing and integrating data from high density data types in a clinical setting (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and flow cytometry).
You’ll have good programming skills (especially in R and Python), familiar with linear and mixed models, Bayesian Inference, machine learning and AI, experienced in using relational databases as well as cloud services for storage and computing (AWS-S3, etc).
You’ll have worked with regulated environments such as GxP/GCP/GMP when working with tools and databases.
You’ll have the capability of successfully managing multiple simultaneous projects, with excellent communication and presentation skills, both face-to face and in remote environments. You are creative, proactive, goal oriented and have an out-of-the-box thinking.
Whilst not essential, having the following skills and experience would be desirable;

  • Experience in industry/biotech and/or core facility environments.
  • Prior line management experience/team leadership experience
  • A deep understanding of the tumour microenvironment and the molecular mechanisms driving cancer.
  • Experience in developing automated pipelines.
  • Experience in web-based analysis applications (R Shiny App Development).
  • Experience with computer vision (i.e. image analysis)
  • Familiarity with cancer databases: TCGA, ICGC, Cosmic etc.
  • Knowledge in immunology/immuno-oncology.
  • Experience with clinical trial data in SDTM (Study Data Tabulation Model) format.
