Role: CDM Advisor/Principal Designer

Location: Central London Office

Sector: Property & Construction

Salary: £55,000-£65,000 + industry leading benefits package

Are you an experienced Principal designer who is looking for a change? are you looking to work for a true leader in the built enviroment arena?

Carriera is working with a leading property and construction consultancy based in Central London. They are currently recruiting for a CDM Advisor/ principal designer with a minmum of 3 years experience, to join a relaxed, whitty and hard working enviroment.

The successful candidate will be working on a diverse portfolio of residential, education, mixed use, care home, healthcare, commercial and regeneration projects across London and the South East. This is an excellent opportunity for a Principal designer to join a forward thinking medium sized consultancy who are going through an exciting period of growth. The successful Principal Designer will have a minimum of 3 years practical experience providing dedicated Principal Designer and CDM services.

The Principal Designer will carry out duties in accordance with the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015, working with Housing Association and Local Authority clients.

This will include delivering all Principal Designer services directly for clients on residential property, including high rise:

as follows:

  • Identifying and managing design related risks

  • Obtain and collate the Pre-Construction Information Pack

  • Communicating effectively with contractors, designers and clients by means of Design Team Meetings and Risk Workshops

  • Reviewing and monitoring designers' compliance

  • Plan, coordinate and manage the pre-construction phase of projects

  • Ensuring designers comply with CDM

  • Providing information to contractors to manage health and safety throughout construction phase

  • Undertake interim Health & Safety inspections and review site records

  • Review Contractor's Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan

  • Update/review and delivery of Health & Safety File to the Client

The Person:

  • Thorough knowledge of CDM Regulations
  • Experience in implementing Health and safety procedures and guidelines
  • Excellent understanding of Health & Safety within the construction industry and on site experience
  • TechIOSH / APS membership (minimum)
  • Professional qualification in designing, building surveying or building
  • services discipline- desirable
  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety is preferred.
