The Role

The company is looking to hire a Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer for the Nottingham office. This position involves delivering expertise in mechanical building services engineering, including design and project management, with a strong focus on sustainability. The role is ideal for engineers eager to lead intricate projects and implement innovative low-energy designs.

Note: This role requires a UK Citizen or individual with indefinite leave to remain, for security clearance purposes

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Engineering Associate/Director, providing regular updates on progress.
  • Ensure timely, budget-compliant project completion with high technical standards.
  • Offer technical guidance to junior staff based on expertise and experience.
  • Participate in design tasks requiring advanced technical skills and conduct feasibility studies.
  • Define project briefs and budget estimates in client meetings.
  • Develop detailed specifications and drawings as per client requirements.
  • Evaluate tender submissions, compile tender reports, and make recommendations.
  • Oversee site works from initiation to completion and monitor compliance with specifications.
  • Inspect current installations and prepare condition reports.
  • Manage the workload of direct reports, ensuring clear roles, team motivation, and individual well-being.
  • Assist in resource planning and participate in the interview process.
  • Proactively engage in marketing efforts to expand the client base and contribute to fee proposals for M&E projects.

Essential Skills, Experience, and Attributes

  • Proficiency with MEPWorx / IES (Mechanical) software, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant legislation, codes of practice, CIBSE guides, and building regulations.
  • A degree or Master’s in Engineering, with Chartered Engineer status or close to achieving it.
  • Membership in relevant professional organizations.
  • A full driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Proven track record in managing successful M&E teams.
