About the Opportunity

Following unprecedented success in winning major projects with National Highways we are growing ourOperational Road Safety team. As a PrincipalRoad Safety Engineer you will workwithin a multi-disciplinary environment to plan and deliver sustainable solutions which shape the future of our transportation infrastructure.

You’ll join a team that has an enviable reputation in the UK Transportation consultancy sector as a result of a portfolio of projects with clients that include the National Highways, Transport Scotland, Network Rail, Welsh Government, National Contractors and numerous Local Authorities.

You will use your knowledge and experience of collision investigation and prevention; road safety audit; safety governance and design to support the delivery of a wide range of road safety-related projects and activities, for various high-profile clients across the UK.

Responsibilities will include:

•Act as an advisor and consultant providing road safety solutions and audits.
• Organisation and delivery of road safety audits across a range of scheme sizes and complexities and a range of clients.
• Providing road safety advice and direction to project teams
•Provide professional and technical excellence in highway engineering
•Assist with the management and provision of technical support for staff dealing with all aspects of road safety
•Support in the management and monitoring of works programmes or services.
• Drafting and reviewingOperational Safety PCF products
• Drafting and review of safety risk assessments to GG104
• Drafting and review of WCHR reports
• Providing advice and support to junior members of the team

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• Degree qualified or equivalent, you will have experience as a Road Safety Engineer for road safety studies with the ability to contribute to the success of a range of high profile transport projects.
• Experience of minor works and highway design and the ability to develop road safety schemes through to detailed design.
• Chartered Engineer or equivalent (CEng; IEng; CMILT; TPP).
• Member of Society of Road Safety Auditors (MSoRSA or FSoRSA) or eligible to achieve MSoRSA or FSoRSA
• Experience of operational management of highways especially motorways and trunk roads but also local roads
• Strong working knowledge of DMRB and its use, in particular the main design standards for links and junctions and design aspects affecting operational safety.
