Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal Structural Engineer with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry. The role will be part of our Aberdeen Engineer Hub. This is a multi-client and multi-discipline engineering and design team. This vacancy is primarily to support an upcoming FEED study on a Flare Gas Recovery project for a major oil & gas operator in the North Sea. The role is an excellent opportunity to be involved in decarbonisation projects. The FEED study is expected to start in April 2023 and run for 6 months before moving into detail design. The project will be run out of our Aberdeen office however remote/hybrid working will be considered.
Writing specifications and reviewing project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation, including checking for technical accuracy
Support various project types, including studies, upgrades, renovations, and new construction for federal, state, and private-sector clients.
Develop calculation packages as required.
Perform site visits of existing structures to evaluate their capacity and ability to resist new loading requirements; produce technical reports with technically sound recommendations.
Be able to present and describe engineering solutions and concept competently to both technical and non-technical audience.
Develop or alter standard project specifications to meet project specific design criteria.
Responsible to seal all drawings that have been prepared under their direction as required.
Assure the technical quality of work performed by subordinates based upon organizational standards, codes and general knowledge of engineering principles and projects.
Organize, plans, and coordinate own work as well as the resources assigned on a specific project.
Skills / Qualifications
MSc, MEng or equivalent professional qualification or BSc, BEng or equivalent with extensive relevant experience.
Chartered Engineer or recognized equivalent.
