Job Description


We have an opportunity for a Principal Track Technical Officer to join our Civils and Track team within KAD. This is a full-time role which is being offered on a permanent contract. The post holder will be expected to provide engineering, technical and planning support to the Civil and Track organisation in the delivery of our inspection and maintenance works.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ensuring all plant, equipment and gauges is inspected maintained and calibrated in accordance with legislation, safety and technical standards.
The preparation of programmes of work, method statements, work requests and risk assessments for routine works and weekend possessions.
Undertaking site surveys and inspections of civil and track assets and producing detailed inspection reports.
Scoping of maintenance works including producing drawings and specifications.
Analysis of all track geometry and quality recording data, and assessing track and rail defects and conditions against relevant standards.
Maintaining asset and work information in DLR Metro.
Procurement of materials, plant, equipment and contract services.
Conducting investigations and producing investigation reports.
Maintaining detailed asset inspection and condition records.
Producing detailed proposals for asset upgrades and replacement.
ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in civil and/or track construction, inspection and maintenance.
Educated to degree or HNC level in an engineering discipline (desirable).
Computer literacy - use of Microsoft Office, DLR Metro, CAD and bespoke asset measurement and analysis software.
Competent in track asset gauging and site surveying techniques.
An appreciation of other railway engineering disciplines including: electrical and mechanical; signalling and telecommunications; and rolling stock.
Knowledge of railway standards (Network Rail/ LUL and DLR).
Competent in the inspection and condition assessment of railway civil and track assets.
