As the Procurement Lead, you will play a pivotal role in managing and directing the procurement activities within our project delivery environment. This involves overseeing the purchasing of goods and services, ensuring alignment with budgets, and optimizing supply chains for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.


Reporting directly to the Programme Manager, your specific duties will include:

  • Establishing and maintaining the Company's procurement strategy, considering supply chain constraints.
  • Developing a strategic procurement management plan, including researching and sourcing the best products and suppliers for optimal value, delivery times, and quality.
  • Developing strategies to achieve cost savings and meet supplier performance targets.
  • Providing price forecast trends and assessing their impact on future activities.
  • Assisting in the development of project tendering and procurement strategies aligned with the Company's overall strategy.
  • Forecasting demand for services and products required by the business in support of the delivery pipeline.
  • Managing the entire procurement process, from scheduling activities to tendering, evaluation, negotiation, and finalization, ensuring robust documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with procurement management processes within the ISO framework and providing guidance to staff.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements within the procurement environment.
  • Driving cost management to secure continued best value.
  • Managing the estimating process in line with changing business requirements.
  • Assisting with contract negotiations in line with specific project estimates.
  • Establishing and maintaining a savings register to capture all procurement savings.
  • Engaging with procurement, commercial, and project management peers to establish, deliver, and disseminate procurement policies and procedures.
  • Assisting in the implementation and maintenance of a procurement system that supports business requirements.
  • Providing operational feedback against policies and procedures to suggest and implement improvements and efficiencies.
  • Establishing an annual Procurement Strategy document and strategic outsourcing plan, identifying annual procurement initiatives.
  • Identifying, communicating, and monitoring annual procurement initiatives through KPIs.
  • Actively soliciting and obtaining key stakeholder support for sourcing opportunities and procurement involvement.
  • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of developments in relevant local, national, and international supply chains, including current market rates.
  • Initiating, managing, and maintaining strategic relationships with key supply chain partners.
  • Identifying initiatives and opportunities for best procurement practices within the business and creating an environment to implement improvements.
  • Engaging and managing internal and external stakeholders, including new and existing suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Providing support and assistance with dispute resolution.
  • Developing robust pricing assumptions, strong commercial and contract strategies to enhance business case opportunities for new and existing markets.
  • Reviewing and expanding reporting to include any new requirements.
  • Assisting in the closeout and project final accounting process.
  • Contributing to the lessons learned process.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes developed in an an EPC or other project led business.
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong experience in the engineering, construction or general energy project sector.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement procurement strategies that drive cost savings and optimize supplier performance.
  • Familiarity with relevant market trends and rates.
  • Experience with procurement systems and tools.
  • Ideally CIPS qualified
