Our client is a market leader in FMCG manufacturing. Their large, prestigious manufacturing facility is currently experiencing sustained expansion and business growth


An opportunity has arisen for a senior-based Manufacturing / Production professional to manage the shift across production and packaging areas


Reporting directly to the Site Operations Manager, you will be an integral part of the manufacturing team, undertaking a diverse role with responsibility for controlling the movement of all raw materials through to packaged finished goods in your factory, planning and production to meet customer needs within quality, time, and cost specifications.


The Production Shift Manager is a key site leadership role with responsibility for a shift in a large factory. It requires the leadership and engagement of staff at multiple levels to ensure the effective delivery of daily site performance demands.


Duties and Responsibilities – Production Shift Manager


  • You will manage a large team across several process and packing lines via a team of 4 direct reports. Indirect reports up to 100+
  • To ensure staff understand & and demonstrate the importance of high levels of customer service and identify ways to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Continuously identify ways to reduce costs, improve standards and efficiency
  • Responsible for both the day-to-day management of technical and production professionals; as well as coordinating and driving development projects which will lead towards performance improvements and cost reduction
  • The role will involve a significant amount of Change Management in all areas of manufacturing, engineering, and operations.
  • You will provide technical support and analysis, including the utilisation of industrial performance and continuous improvement tools
  • Ensuring the efficient safe receipt, storage, manufacture and despatch of raw materials and finished goods
  • Formulating annual labour models and budgets to secure the resources necessary
  • Developing and managing the people plan to create an adaptive and proactive team
  • Recruiting and developing employees to maintain an effective workplace
  • Develop organisational capability by supporting through coaching others
  • Improve operational excellence through engaging factory personnel with a focus on data-driven decision-making


Role Requirements & Experience – Production Shift Manager


  • Graduate calibre, a considerable understanding of all areas of factory operations.
  • FMCG / Food and Drink / Process or fast-paced heavier manufacturing industry experience, with factory knowledge and understanding of the key drivers within an FMCG factory environment
  • Inspirational in your approach and management of people
  • Able to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced production environment, with a high-energy, proactive nature and style
  • Proven leadership skills, leading by example, demonstrating high standards of behaviour
  • Able to demonstrate a track record in leading teams to drive up standards
  • Management experience gained within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of working within a Lean Environment is ideal
  • A proven track record of delegating, empowering, influencing, and motivating people
  • You will be experienced in change management, CI, planning and leading factory improvement initiatives
