Job Description

Keltbray Rail are recruiting for a Project Control Manager to support our client in delivering a large infrastructure project as part of the 8-year multi-disciplinary rail and civils scheme which is located in Birmingham.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining an integrated baseline encompassing scope, time, cost, risk, and quality, and monitoring project and contract performance. Also accountable for coordinating project controls activities within the supply chain to ensure the accuracy and quality of captured cost, risk, and schedule information.
  • Analyse submitted data and reports to provide insights and trends on performance and risks, facilitating decision-making processes. Additionally, oversee the correlation of schedule, cost, quality, and risk to drive efficient program delivery, while managing performance and analysing cost data capture systems.
  • Review supply chain program submissions and update client schedules. Manage risks within a designated development or delivery area of the integrated Programme, leveraging expertise from specialists to address project delays, issues, and challenges.
  • Coordinate the change management process, ensuring effective assessment and management of impacts to the baseline. Also responsible for coordinating and communicating the Period reporting cycle, ensuring compliance with reporting life cycle standards and conducting self-assessments of procedural compliance.
  • Manage the assurance of Project Controls Data, ensuring adherence to PMO and Project Controls policies, processes, and standards within a designated development or delivery area of the overall Programme. Provide functional line management, performance management, and objective setting support to direct reports.
  • Actively promote and integrate Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) principles, supporting and complying with organisational initiatives, policies, and procedures on EDI.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business administration, or related field. Master's degree or professional certification
  • Proven experience in project controls, project management, or related roles within the Rail sector.
  • Strong proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Power Bi Microsoft Project, Excel).
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful insights.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Solid understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the core Project Controls disciplines, including; Schedule Management, Cost Management, Change Management and Risk Management
  • Knowledge of baseline development and maintenance of baselines on a programme
  • Knowledge of the Project and Commercial Management principles including understanding of cost delivery, schedule targets
  • Understanding of NEC contracts, amendments, early warning notices and the work-flows of communications between contractor and client
