About the Role


This role is responsible for leading and supporting all quality/design aspects impacting, sustaining and improving the plant performance.


Your Responsibilities

  • Support quality management and site management objectives and tasks
  • Support quality management and site management reporting requirements
  • Contribute towards the development and delivery of department and individual objectives to maintain/improve department and business performance
  • Involvement in continuous improvement activities for plant (quality, lean, scrap, etc.)
  • Support site development and sustainment of QMS in line with standards and customer specific requirements
  • Work with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain customer and internal quality standards
  • Liaison with external parties as required (customers, suppliers, etc.)
  • Provide regular feedback through various mechanisms i.e. daily, weekly and monthly reviews
  • Support coaching and development activities as required
  • Maintain responsible systems and metrics, including reporting as required
  • This position combines the focus of a Designer and Product Development Engineer
  • Lead Design change for the plant.
  • Lead change management for the plant.
  • Lead internal NPI/project activities.
  • Effectively utilize CAD technology to develop and complete development of parts and assemblies as required by customer.
  • Generate temporary studies/concept sketches, of specific areas, to realize or eliminate engineering concerns.
  • Modifies product drawings and/or math data according to approved DWO and PCN.
  • Executing the design guidelines as stated TS16949.
  • Observe group and customer data standards for file construction and storage.
  • Identify and lead new development projects focusing on new concepts, cost savings, global activities and obtaining new business.
  • Create & execute goals, timing and cost for project(s).
  • Track & evaluate emerging technologies.
  • Monitor and benchmark competitors.
  • Communicate/coordinate projects between divisions, sales, targeted programs, customer needs and corporate representative.
  • Support Exteriors and Sales group in pursuing new business.
  • Identifies design work and creates design specifications for a variety of complex product components to obtain operational, cost, quality, and/or manufacturing feasibility improvements


Who we are looking for


Essential

  • CAD experience
  • Understanding the DFMEA process
  • Understanding of engineering drawings (KFD, data notes, spec tender, PSW, etc)
  • NPI experience
  • Excellent organization skills and management of priorities
  • Understanding of 7W / lean improvement
  • Experienced in problem solving leadership with strong analytical skills
  • Understanding of build standard creation (PFMEA, control plan, working level documents) and implementation / improvement of quality control systems
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present to all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Understanding of measurement methods / methodology
  • PC literacy, including a working knowledge of reporting software, e.g. Microsoft Office
  • Resilient, self-driven and positive approach
  • Prepared to work within remit and across functions/levels as required
  • Systematic and logical approach
  • Flexibility


Desirable

  • Qualified to HNC level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Experience of working within the automotive sector
  • 6-Sigma trained or trained in other problem solving methodologies (quality tools required)
  • QMS and quality systems / auditing experience
