We’re happy to discuss hybrid, part-time and flexible working hours, patterns and locations to suit you and our business.About the Opportunity Jacobs are recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team supporting our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with their nuclear fleet in the UK. Since 1983 Dungeness B has generated low carbon electricity for 38.2 million homes and was the first Advanced Gas-cooled Reactor to begin construction in the UK. The station is now at a new phase in its life - defueling and decommissioning. This involves the safe removal of all spent fuel from the reactor core, the cooling ponds and stores whilst looking ahead and preparing for deconstruction. At a time of nuclear resurgence working for Jacobs at Dungeness B offers a unique opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within an operational defueling environment whilst also looking ahead to future potential opportunities in nuclear new build or decommissioning and deconstruction. This is a key role within our project and engineering portfolio which is spread across our UK network at all UK sites and stations. You will be supported and mentored by experienced project engineering management professionals within Jacobs and given the training and opportunities you need to develop and expand your project engineering management and leadership skills with larger and more complex projects. You will be part of a large client-led team at EDFs Dungeness B Power Station and will be accountable to the client Project Manager, Programme Manager and/or Construction Manager. Flexible working arrangements between office and home may be possible, however the role will predominantly be based at the Power Station. Key responsibilities will be: Producing and maintaining engineering documentation including quality plans and technical specificationsManagement of technical queries in accordance with relevant processes and proceduresSupporting the process of contractor selection and contract placementTechnical reviews of contractor documents and drawingsCarrying out technical appraisals of project optionsPerforming feasibility studies, site surveys and liaison with designers and station engineering staff as requiredPrepare Engineering Changes and manage the preparation of supporting and affected documentsCommissioning documents and act as test team leader where appropriateSupporting the Project Manager and Construction Manager in managing the project and ensuring the work is carried out in a safe, timely and effective manner to its conclusionHere's What You'll Need:Typically Chartered Engineer or HND Plus with extensive experience in electrical engineering Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualificationCandidates that hold a formal project management qualification and are versed in modern project management techniques preferred but not essentialExperience of Identifying, implementing, and complying with applicable safety, environmental and quality standards, company procedures and policies and other relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.Knowledge and experience of delivering construction projects under CDMIdeally experience in managing and delivering electrical power systems design and installation projects; for example prior experience in working with the national grid and/or electrical supply and distribution systemsStrong communication and organisational skillsA background of working at Power Stations and Nuclear Licensed Sites is preferred but not essential and everyone working in our team will have a proven track record of working within highly regulated environments with high safety standards
