Project Engineering Team

and lead the management and coordination of their activities. The role involves working with the Project Management team to ensure the technical and operational content of the project is delivered successfully against the customer requirements. As a team leader you will also work directly on major Project supporting the project delivery. Key responsibilities and tasks Report to the Project Management Director, provide information and reporting on Project Engineering team responsibilities. Direct support on Major projects as part of an integrated or matrix team, day to day reporting to accountable Project Manager. Accountable for areas of Project Engineering and engineering administration responsibilities. Line manages, lead and coach a team of Project Engineers and Engineering administrators. Work closely with the design department to deliver against customer requirements. Providing best practice consultation to the team including methodologies for working through technical and operational challenges Provide training plans, performance reviews and development for the Project Engineering team. Manage capacity and workloads to provide resources within a matrix or integrated project team. Provide support for the projects in customer communications and tasks requiring more senior engagement such as bids or quality escalations. Provide input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. Develop / govern / maintain procedures, tools and Project engineering work practices to provide consistency across the business. Support roll out of new business tools where required. General activities Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as required to support the needs of the business. Provide a professional backup service for colleagues during peak times or during absence. Maintain continuous professional development to ensure knowledge is up to date. Act as an ambassador for the company in all interactions with customers and the public. Qualifications, experience and skills Essential Degree and / or experience within a product development / engineering / production environment. Experience of working within a Project delivery team. Flexibility, enthusiasm, self-motivated and able to work well under own initiative. Decision-making / problem solving skills. Able to build long-term successful partnerships, both internally and externally. Strong customer management capabilities (internal and external). Able to negotiate and influence others. Capable of resolving escalated issues requiring cross-functional engagement. Strong presentation skills, confident speaker and professionally presented. Previous experience of an ERP/MRP system. Desirable Resource / department management experience. Good understanding of Project Management methodologies (Prince2, APMP, PMP). Previous experience of CAD systems. Knowledge of BS.8888 drawing practices. Experience within an engineering role. Experience of working within a Defence environment. Knowledge of ISO9001 or a similar QA system. Experience within a low volume, high value manufacturing environment. Other requirements The duties of this appointment relate to the UK but you may be required to travel when required by the Company. It is not envisaged that you shall be required to work outside the UK for more than one month. Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK Candidates be able to pass UK Security Check level or be able to obtain this level.
